A big thank you to WACA for the invitation to present at their 2025 MSHA Spring Thaw Workshop on March 26, 2025, in Normandy Park, WA. There were presentations on MSHA updates, Workers’ Health, Opioid Crisis, and Safety and Fall protection. I offered a perspective on organizational culture and its importance in recruiting, inspiring and retaining staff in an environment of tremendous turnover and low unemployment. I detailed how leveraging core values can enhance organizational coherency resulting in improved outcomes for companies/institutions. This concept is fundamental to high performing organizations and while the concepts are simple enough, the execution proves more difficult. Nonetheless, these are the principles that put the team’s oars in the water with a consistent cadence and direction generating success-velocity.
